DoorDash Tax Calculator (2026)
DoorDash withholds nothing from Dasher pay, so the number in the app is not the number you keep. Enter your earnings, hours, and miles to see your real take-home, your true hourly rate, and the quarterly tax payment that keeps the IRS off your back.

Your real 2026 take-home
For Dashers, mileage is the whole ballgame
DoorDash pays you base pay plus promotions plus tips, with no platform fee deducted from your payout. That sounds clean, but it means your taxable income starts at every dollar you earned. The one deduction that changes the math is your car: the IRS standard mileage rate is 72.5 cents per business mile for 2026, and delivery racks up miles fast. Just 8,000 business miles is a $5,800 deduction. A Dasher who logs miles and a Dasher who doesnโt can earn identical pay and face very different tax bills.
Which miles count? Active deliveries, plus the driving between orders while you are online in the app. The trip from your couch to your starting zone before you go online is generally commuting, and commuting is never deductible. Start a mileage app the day you start dashing, because the IRS wants records kept at or near the time of the trip, not reconstructed in April.
What about the hot bag?
Dashers ask this constantly, and the answer is yes: insulated bags, drink carriers, phone mounts, chargers, and the business share of your phone plan are all deductible supplies. They stack on top of the mileage deduction because the mileage rate only covers the vehicle itself. Put them in the โother expensesโ field above. For the full Schedule C walkthrough, our DoorDash and Uber tax guide covers forms, deductions, and filing step by step. And since nothing is withheld from your pay, run your numbers through the quarterly estimated tax calculator so the April bill never surprises you.
These are estimates, not tax advice. State income tax is included when you select a state (2026 single-filer brackets, excluding state standard deductions and local taxes). Unusual situations belong with a CPA.
Where these numbers come from
Take-home is computed as gross earnings minus expenses and the IRS standard mileage deduction, then minus self-employment tax, federal income tax, and state income tax where selected. The rates come from these primary sources:
- IRS Newsroom, 2026 standard mileage rate (Notice 2026-10): 72.5 cents per business mile for 2026
- IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32: 2026 federal income tax brackets and standard deduction
- IRS Topic No. 751, Social Security and Medicare withholding rates: the 15.3% self-employment tax components
- State revenue departments (official 2026 rate tables): every state page links its revenue agency's official estimated-tax page, verified June 10, 2026; mid-year rate changes are adjudicated against the agency directly (e.g. South Carolina's H.4216)
Constants last verified against these sources on June 11, 2026. Every value is also pinned by an automated test suite that fails if a rate in the calculator drifts from the figure we transcribed from the source.
