Amazon Flex Tax Calculator (2026)

Amazon Flex pays a flat rate per block and withholds nothing, so the block pay is not the money you keep. Enter your earnings, hours, and miles to see your real take-home, your true hourly rate, and the quarterly tax payment that keeps the IRS off your back.

For Flex drivers, mileage is the whole ballgame

Amazon Flex shows the block rate up front and takes no commission, so your taxable income starts at every dollar of block pay plus tips. The deduction that changes the math is your vehicle. The IRS standard mileage rate is 72.5 cents per business mile for 2026, and a full slate of blocks adds up fast. Just 10,000 business miles is a $7,250 deduction. Two drivers with identical block pay can owe very different tax depending on whether they tracked their miles.

Which miles count? Driving during an active block, from the station to your stops and between them. The trip from home to the delivery station before your block starts is generally commuting, and commuting is never deductible. Start a mileage app the day you start delivering, because the IRS wants records kept at or near the time of the trip, not reconstructed in April.

What else can I write off?

The business share of your phone plan, tolls and parking on a block, and gear like phone mounts and chargers are all deductible supplies. They stack on top of the mileage deduction, because the mileage rate only covers the vehicle itself. Put them in the โ€œother expensesโ€ field above. Our Amazon Flex tax guide covers the 1099-NEC and the full Schedule C picture. Since nothing is withheld from your pay, run your numbers through the quarterly estimated tax calculator so the April bill never surprises you, and the mileage deduction calculator to see what your miles are worth in tax saved.

These are estimates, not tax advice. State income tax is included when you select a state (2026 single-filer brackets, excluding state standard deductions and local taxes). Unusual situations belong with a CPA.

Where these numbers come from

Take-home is computed as block pay plus tips, minus expenses and the IRS standard mileage deduction, then minus self-employment tax, federal income tax, and state income tax where selected. The rates come from these primary sources:

Constants last verified against these sources on June 18, 2026. Every value is also pinned by an automated test suite that fails if a rate in the calculator drifts from the figure we transcribed from the source.

Frequently asked questions

What tax form does Amazon Flex send drivers?
Amazon Flex pays drivers directly through Amazon Payments, so it issues Form 1099-NEC, not a 1099-K. For payments made in 2026 the reporting threshold is $2,000 (it was $600 through 2025 payments, so the form you receive in early 2026 for the 2025 tax year still uses the old threshold). Either way, every dollar you earned is taxable whether or not a form arrives.
Does Amazon Flex take a cut of my pay?
No. Amazon Flex shows a flat block rate before you accept the block, and that amount is what you earn, with tips paid on top. There is no commission skimmed off the way a marketplace takes a percentage, so this calculator treats your block pay plus tips as your full self-employment income and does not subtract a platform fee.
Which of my miles count as business miles?
Miles driven during an active block count: from the station to your first stop, between stops, and back if the route requires it. The drive from home to the station before you start, and home afterward, is generally commuting, which is not deductible. Keep a contemporaneous mileage log with date, miles, and purpose. At the 2026 rate of 72.5 cents per mile, mileage is usually a Flex driver's largest deduction.
Can I deduct my phone, tolls, and supplies?
Yes. The business-use share of your phone and data plan, tolls and parking incurred on a block, and gear like a phone mount or insulated bags are ordinary business expenses. They are deducted on top of the standard mileage rate, which only covers vehicle costs like gas, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation. Put them in the other-expenses field above.
Do I owe tax if I only did Amazon Flex part-time?
You must file Schedule SE and pay self-employment tax once net self-employment earnings reach $400 for the year, regardless of whether you received a form. Below that, no SE tax applies, but the income is still reportable. The mileage deduction often pulls part-time drivers under the $400 net figure even when gross block pay was higher.
Do I have to pay quarterly estimated taxes?
If you expect to owe $1,000 or more in federal tax for the year after any withholding, yes. The 2026 due dates are April 15, June 15, and September 15, 2026, then January 15, 2027. This calculator shows a suggested per-quarter payment based on your numbers.
